Romance between Awkward Otaku – “Love is Hard for Otaku” (ヲタクに恋は難しい)

Let me introduce the love comedy manga, Love is Hard for Otaku, commonly known as Ota-koi (ヲタ恋). It is written and illustrated by Fujita. This manga was born on Pixiv, a social networking service that allows users to post and view illustrations and manga. Fujita started to submit Ota-koi to Pixiv in 2014 and it serialized until 2021. It also became books published by Ichijinsya Inc in 2015 and there are 11 volumes.

The story line of this manga is as follows. An office worker, Narumi Momose who is the main character, is Otaku, but she hid the fact that she had such a hobby. However, one day her colleague who is also her boyfriend found out that and she was dumped by him. She wasn't able to get over the shock of his rejection and moved to other company. At the new workplace, she met Hirotaka Nifuji, her childhood friend again by chance. Hirotaka is also Otaku. For Narumi, Hirotaka was just a precious friend who accepted her Otaku hobby, but not someone to fall in love with. Actually, though, Hirotaka had a secret affection for Narumi. So when Narumi was worried that her love didn't go well, Hirotaka emphasized a "certain advantage" of going out with him and he happily became Narumi's boyfriend.
