The heart-warming daily life of a certain family – “Atashin’chi” (あたしンち)

Today I would like to recommend Atashin’chi. It is the heart-warming comedy manga by Eiko Kera. She started to serialize it in the Sunday edition of Yomiuri Newspaper from 1994. Serialization in the newspaper finished in March, 2012, but in 2019, Eiko resumed serialization in the weekly magazine Aera. Comic books are in 21 volumes. From 1 to 18 were published by Media Factory, and 19 to 21 were by Kadokawa.

In this manga, a normal family, the Tachibanas, is the center of the story. There are four people in the family, father, mother, Mikan (daughter), and Yuzuhiko (son). The names of the father and mother do not appear. All of them are ordinary people. The father is quiet and does everything at his own pace, the mother is savings oriented and typical, Mikan is a plain and a little idiotic high school student, and Yuzuhiko is a shy but steady junior high school student. Each episode is made up of 23 frames and basically it is a complete story. Contents are for example, about mother's saving methods, the school life of Mikan and Yuzuhiko, and so on. Of course the characters are not only the members of Tachibana family but also their friends. They appear many times and liven up the stories. 

I think you can sympathize with the characters in many scenes. I would like you to read this manga which depicts the characters' peaceful life that is casual but makes you laugh when you think about it for a moment.
